From time to time a manufacturer of an RV or the manufacturer of an appliance or component itself may encounter an issue with an item they either manufacturer themselves or source from another company that requires a repair, modification or replacement.
Listed below are recalls that are or at least should be of particular interest to most RV owners and should not be ignored!
Refrigerators
Dometic
* Dometic recently expanded its recall on a population of two-door refrigerators. The original recall included some two-door refrigerators manufactured between April 1997 and May 2003. The recent expansion of this recall now includes the same two-door refrigerators, manufactured between June 2003 and September 2006. Dometic has voluntarily recalled a population of two-door refrigerators manufactured between April 1997 and May 2003. To find out if your refrigerator falls within the recall, enter the model number and 8-digit serial number of your Dometic refrigerator at the Dometic website provided in the link above!
The Norcold, Inc. refrigerators listed below have been recalled.
It is important to implement this safety enhancement to prevent an unsafe elevation in the temperature of the cooling unit should the unit fail in operation. This enhancement seeks to minimize the risk of injury or death due to fire.
Norcold Inc. has decided to recall certain 1200, 1201, 1210 and 1211 model gas/electric refrigerators with serial numbers from 315525 to 13088811, non consecutively. The refrigerator's model and serial number are located inside the fresh food compartment. These refrigerators may have cooling units with a cooling unit serial number between 700000 to 13085759. This is a new recall campaign to include all 1200, 1201,1210 and 1211 models.
Even if your refrigerator was repaired as part of a previous recall, it is necessary to have it repaired again to minimize the risk of injury or death due to fire.
If you have one of these refrigerator models, use the following procedure:
1.) Identify and write down the refrigerator model. If it is a Norcold 1200, 1201, 1210 and 1211 model, go to step 2. 2.) Identify and write down the refrigerator serial number. If the serial number falls in the range of 315525 and 13088811, go to step 3. 3.) Identify and write down the cooling unit serial number. If the serial number falls in the range of 700000 and 13085759, go to step 4. 4.) Call your dealer immediately!
The installation of the High Temperature Sensor will be at no cost to you.
Owners of recalled refrigerators should NOT operate their refrigerator until it can be professionally repaired by your dealer or a Norcold authorized service center. If you have one of the recalled refrigerators and you:

Unplug the refrigerator through the service vent on the outside of the vehicle.

Disconnect from shore power.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued the latest recalls related to the RV industry:
Certain Navistar (2011) Holiday Rambler Mintaro travel trailers
manufactured from Aug. 27 through Nov. 9 equipped with 15-inch-by-6-inch
white spoke or modular design steel wheels with a six-hole bolt
pattern. Some of the wheels may have inadequate weld penetration
between the outer ring and the center plate due to improper plate
alignment.
Certain Skyline Corp. (2011) Layton, Aljo, Nomad, Weekender and
Mountain View recreational vehicles and fifth-wheel travel trailers
manufactured from Aug. 23. through Sept. 28 equipped with Tredit Tire
15-inch painted wheels, models spoke or mod. Some of the wheels, which
fasten to the axle of the vehicle body and serve as a mounting point for
tires, could contain misaligned welds.
Certain Forest River Inc. (2011) Georgetown Class A motorhomes for
failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety
No. 302, “Flammability of Interior Materials.” The fabrics used in
window treatments, window valances, drapery and bed spreads are not
treated with flame retardant.
Certain Keystone RV Co. (2011) Sprinter, Cougar and Fuzion travel
trailers equipped with Siemens and Murray one-inch plug-in circuit
breakers. The “spring clip” plug-in assembly may break or fail to
provide sufficient force to maintain a proper electrical connection in
the panel board.
Certain Heartland RV (2011) travel trailers equipped with
15-inch-by-6-inch white spoke or modular design steel wheels with a
six-hole bolt pattern. Some of the wheels may have inadequate
weld penetration between the outer ring and the center plate due to
improper plate alignment.
Certain Sprinter (2010-2011) Freightliner 2500 Sprinter vehicles
equipped with an emergency exit window. The adhesive bond between the
glass and the hinge on the top of the window may loosen.
Certain Thor Motor Coach (2011) Four Winds 5000 and Chateau sport
vehicles manufactured from Oct. 26 through Nov. 11. These vehicles do
not have the required heat shield located in the proper place next to
the LP gas tank.
Certain Forest River Inc. (2011) Surveyor travel trailers, Crusader
fifth-wheel trailers, Rance aluminum cargo trailers and Work and Play
toy hauler trailers equipped with 15-inch-by-6-inch white spoke or
modular design steel wheels with a six-hole bolt pattern. Some of the
wheels may have inadequate weld penetration between the outer ring and
the center plate due to improper plate alignment.
Certain Peterson Industries Inc. (2002 through 2011) Excel
fifth-wheel trailers, models Limited, Classic, Winslow and Wild Cargo,
equipped with Dimplex Electraflame, Symphony, or Optiflame branded
electric fireplaces, stoves, and fireplace inserts.
